Monday 11/21 – Tuesday 11/22 the 8th grade students will be taking an assessment test called EXPLORE. This test is the initial introduction of the ACT. The ACT is one of the college entrance exams that students will be required to take when they are in 11th grade; however, getting an early look into their ability and achievement assists in determining future possibilities. This also allows us to look at areas that need growth so we can meet those needs at an earlier stage.
Another beneficial aspect of the EXPLORE test is the non-cognitive “career-focused” section. This will be given the first day to the students in their homeroom classes. This exploratory section allows the students to respond to their interests in and outside of school. The evaluated value responses provide career ideas to students for future career plan. From these evaluations, the students will receive career counseling to motivate them to explore the various occupation and college major avenues they can pursue after high school. Being able to identify values and interests at an early age is paramount to future success.
The results of this test will be mailed to you in January, including interpretation of scores and resources for growth. If you have any questions please feel free to call our offices or visit www.explorestudent.org.
